Understanding Hemp Extract and How It's Different from Marijuana

At Cannafox, we believe that nature holds powerful answers. That’s why we work with the hemp plant from seed to bottle - growing, harvesting and extracting with care. But before we dive into the benefits of our extract and creams, it’s worth taking a moment to understand what Hemp Extract actually is, where it comes from, and how it’s different from Marijuana.

What Is Full-Spectrum Hemp Extract?

Full-spectrum hemp extract is a natural oil derived from the hemp plant. It contains a wide range of beneficial compounds, including CBD (cannabidiol) - one of over 100 cannabinoids found in hemp - along with other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and essential plant nutrients. These compounds work together in what’s often called the “entourage effect,” supporting a more balanced and effective experience than CBD alone.

CBD is a standout cannabinoid because of how it interacts with your body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) - a regulatory system that helps keep things like mood, sleep, immune response, digestion and inflammation in check.

Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive compound associated with cannabis, full-spectrum hemp extract contains only trace amounts of THC (below legal limits). That means it won’t get you or your pet “high” - but it may help bring the body back to balance, ease tension, reduce soreness or promote calm, depending on what your system needs.

Hemp: The Plant Behind the Product

CBD can be extracted from both hemp and marijuana, but at Cannafox, we work exclusively with hemp. Why? Because hemp is naturally rich in CBD and contains only trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%), making it ideal for creating wellness products that are safe and effective.

Hemp’s roots go deep literally and historically. It’s one of the oldest cultivated plants in human history, used for everything from rope and fabric to medicine and food. It’s hardy, sustainable and good for the soil, which is why we grow it with pride on our Australian farms.

CBD vs. THC: What’s the Difference?

Think of CBD and THC as cousins. They come from the same plant family but behave very differently in the body:

CBD supports your ECS without altering your state of mind. It’s often used to soothe discomfort, reduce inflammation, ease anxiety or promote recovery.

THC binds more directly to ECS receptors in the brain, leading to the well-known “high” associated with cannabis.

Both compounds have potential therapeutic benefits, but for everyday wellness and support (without the buzz), CBD is the star of the show. That’s where Cannafox comes in.
