No. Hemp and marijuana come from the same plant family (Cannabis), but contain different levels of the naturally occurring compounds (cannabinoids). Hemp is dominant in CBD and low in THC (containing less than 0.3%). Marijuana works inversely and is THC dominant with low CBD.

Ethanol extraction efficiently draws out the valuable compounds (cannabinoids and terpenes), including cannabidiol (CBD), from hemp. It is a versatile and sophisticated method which can be performed at various temperatures and atmospheric pressures, allowing for more control over the final product. Cold ethanol extraction minimizes the capture of unwanted compounds like chlorophyll and is highly effective in maintaining the potency and purity of the CBD / hemp extract. Once the cannabinoids are extracted, the solvent is carefully evaporated, leaving behind a concentrated hemp extract rich in cannabinoids. It is considered eco-friendly compared to some other methods because the ethanol can be recaptured and recycled in the process.
